401(k) Plans Updated Regulations: Rethinking Plan Strategies

On December 29, 2004 the IRS released final 401(k) rules that incorporate both the changes in the law enacted by Congress and guidance issued by the IRS over the period since 1996. The rules clarify written policies that plan administrators must use, how plans can be tested, rules on funding of deferrals, and guidance on certain correction techniques.
