Dennis Laycraft, Executive Vice President, Canadian Cattlemens Association, will speak on the work of the beef roundtable in helping to manage Canadas response to BSE and on the groups emerging vision for moving forward over the longer term. Dennis has been Chair of the beef roundtable since its inception in January 2003 and has been instrumental in helping the group manage the challenges brought on by BSE. The first domestic case of BSE was discovered on the eve the roundtables second meeting, and the group provided a readymade forum for helping to ensure a coordinated and effective response. Dennis will talk about the advantages of having all links in the value chain working together through a crisis. He will also talk about how the roundtable plans to build on the strong relationships that have emerged to develop a vision for the longterm future of Canadas beef industry.
