Months have passed since the highly publicized ChoicePoint data loss incident hit public awareness. According to Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, there were roughly 100 reported data breaches in 2005 at major corporations, universities, and government agencies. As a result, more than 51 million Americans have had their personal information compromised since February 2005. A significant number of these incidents involve the loss of physical media (tape) during transport. In many cases the offending organization possessed an electronic means for on boarding content from their business partner, but gaps in these solutions prevented deployment or use. Gaps could include: Proprietary products that dictate what product business partners MUST use for compatibility, which is often unacceptable Inferior on nonexistent security that does not meet compliance requirements Nonstandards based functionality making it difficult to support partners and end users Join David Armes, Senior Portfolio Architect at American Express, as he discusses how his organization met these same challenges headon in an effort to leverage technology to its fullest potential. Through a Managed File Transfer system, American Express was able to:Lower IT costs Comply with regulatory mandates Reduce reliance on legacy transport mechanisms Ensure the privacy of customer data
